The Society is dedicated to the delivery of the highest quality of critical care to patients in the UK. They perform many functions for the intensive care community in the UK such as the production of guidelines and standards, stage national meetings, training courses and focus groups. They represent Intensive Care in wide ranging organisations from the Royal Colleges to the Department of Health and other organisations and societies with a stake or interest in intensive care. They are also represented on the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Intensive Care.

The UK Primary Immunodeficiency Network (UKPIN) is a multidisciplinary organisation of those caring for patients with primary immunodeficiencies. UKPIN aims to share methods of best practice, and to accredit immunology centres which practice in this way.

Kawasaki Syndrome Support Group
The Kawasaki Syndrome Support Group is a group of families who have firsthand knowledge of Kawasaki and have set up a National Support Group. Kawasaki Syndrome is an acute childhood illness which can affect many systems of the body. They offer support and understanding and, where possible, linking up of local families.
